BJP to use Modi govt’s achievements to fight upcoming assembly polls

Written by : PTI

BJP on Friday said it would use the Modi government's achievements in the economic sector and financial inclusion initiatives as an "additional weapon" to fight the coming assembly polls in five states.

BJP National Secretary H Raja said during the 2014 Lok Sabha polls "the only weapon we had in our side to face the polls was the expectations from (Narendra) Modi by people."

"In the last 21 months, the benefits of Modi government's achievements, especially in the area of financial inclusion (by way of) schemes like Jan Dhan, Atal Pension yojana and Mudra Bank, have reached every individual and every household."

"This is an additional weapon. We will use this as an election weapon," Raja told reporters here while responding to queries about the party's strategies to face the polls in Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Puducherry.

Raja slammed the CPI(M) for its alleged role in the recent attacks on workers of BJP, RSS and Youth Congress in Kerala and ruled out the possibility of joining any front that had the left party as a constituent since it was a "declared position" not to align with it.

Virtually opposing another tie-up with former NDA constituent MDMK, Raja said its founder Vaiko had made very critical remarks about the Prime Minister, adding such a person "cannot be our friend."
