Are you scared of spiders? Does your killer instinct suddenly take over you if you so much as lay an eye on a cobweb in your house? Would you go to any extent to kill these eight-legged beasts?

If your response to most of the above questions is yes, you should read further. The others shall do the same to. Because trying to butcher a spider, even for fun, is likely to bring you bad luck.

There are incidents aplenty to prove that spiders seem to have become a cause of much concern and subsequent destruction worldwide.

A man in Seattle recently burnt down his rented house while trying to kill a spider with a makeshift blowtorch. Both he and his mother, who he used to live with in the house, escaped unharmed. The man tried to use a can of spray paint along with a lighter to kill the dangerous beast, states a report in Jezebel

The spiders’ body wasn't recovered, but it is assumed to be dead. For $60,000 worth of damages, that is one expensive kill.

In a similar incident in Kansas, US, a woman tried to kill a spider using fire last month. Ginny M. Griffith, 34, was arrested on arson charges after fire tenders were called in to extinguish the blaze she had started to kill the spider. Griffith too used a lighter, but to set fire to towels which she would use to murder the arthropod.

The next time you spot a spider, try to picture it more like the superhero, and not yourself suffocating as the creature spins its cocoon around you pinning you down senseless with its venom. On the brighter side, you may actually turn into Spider-man. Peace!
