Amazon dumps ‘No Questions Asked’ refund policy, limits replacement window to 10 days

In a change in its policy, e-commerce platform Amazon has decided to do away with their ‘No Questions Asked’ return and refund policy on smartphones in India.

This new policy is effective from every purchase made on and after February 7.

With this new policy, sellers will be bound to replace the product only if the product is dysfunctional or found damaged during the time of delivery and that too within a 10-day window

"All mobile phones that are fulfilled by Amazon, purchased on or after 7th February 2016, will have a replacement only policy. Mobile phone items that are fulfilled by Amazon will no longer be eligible for refunds. In case you have received a defective or a damaged mobile phone, you will be eligible for a free replacement," read the returns policy page on the company’s website.

The page also states, "Items that you no longer need must be returned in new and unopened condition with all the original packing, tags, inbox literature, warranty/ guarantee card, freebies and accessories including keys, straps and locks intact."

Some experts believe that the company’s previous policy were abused by some who would return multiple latest smartphones only to return them after using it for weeks.

As TechRadar puts it these should not put off those looking to purchase smartphones for genuine use wouldn't really be concerned with this amendment to the policy.
