The News Minute| December 6, 2014| 1.50 pm ISTThe AAP's campaigning style has been different, its party members have been the non-typical ones, the modus operand in terms of funds collection has been different, or rather more transparent with the party’s website providing detailed reports about where the money inflow is from. Over the last few days, the AAP has been back in the news and in social media. First, an effort to portray Arvind Kejriwal as the #Mufflerman, then a spat on Kejriwal's picture travelling to Dubai on business class, and now the party has been triggering funds collection via social media a little differently.“I will donate Rs X to AAP for every RT this tweet gets” – this or modified versions of this tweet have been put up by Indian twitterati over the last few days. As a form of encouragement for its supporters, the party has been responding to donations with a ‘Certificate of Donation’ along with the hashtag #IFundHonestPolitics.I am common manI pay my taxesI travel in Rickshaw, Bike, Car, Metro, Auto, Train......Plane#IFundHonestPolitics pic.twitter.com/Rn8MmXlVZT— Kapil (@kapsology) December 5, 2014As I pledged, here it is, my donation certificate! #MufflerMan #iFundHonestPolitics Thank you all once again! pic.twitter.com/BUHMMLwctF— Bhumika 6da (@IamBhumikaC) December 5, 2014According to reports, this unique method of fundraising was triggered innocuously when AAP volunteer Nishant Beria put out a tweet promising to donate Rs. 2 towards AAP everytime his message got retweeted. The tweet was immediately picked up by other supporters, with many making the same promise. Even celebrity supporters of AAP pledged their support for higher amounts. While the campaign collected over Rs six lakh rupees two days back, according to Beria’s twitter account, the amount collected so far has reached Rs. 10 lakh.  While some of the tweets sounded very genuine, promising different amounts for donation from Rs. 5 to Rs. 100 and more , the Indian twitter audience was not far behind in seeing the funny side of it. I will donate 25 cc blood to AAP for every RT this tweet gets.— Gabbbarsingh (@GabbbarSingh) December 3, 2014I will donate Rs 1000 to AAP for each match played by Ashish Nehra where he has not shown his teeth. Please RTeeth.— Keh Ke Peheno (@coolfunnytshirt) December 3, 2014Yogendra Yadav, one of AAP’s most recognizable faces, took a more serious stand on social media with this retweet hinting at one of India’s most famous news face . Arnab Goswami is Promoter of Paid MediaIf u agree then RTI'll Donate ₹5 To AAP For Every RT this Tweet gets in Next 24 Hrs.#MufflerMan— Sandeep Gupta (@_SandeepGupta_) December 5, 2014We all know how touchy Arnab Goswami is about being called ‘paid media’, considering his “one on one” face-off with Meekankshi Lekhi in a famous viral video which also resulted in an even more famous mashup of the same incident. This endorsement by Yadav comes at a strange time. Apparently, the party is quite miffed with Goswami for vehemently pursuing Kejriwal's business class travel on his show recently.  Even though AAP looks set to make a comeback on the political scene in Delhi, maybe, AAP doesn’t want to go back on India’s most watched TV show – The Nation wants to know. On another note, the above mentioned tweet has been shared over 800 times.
