Controversial film, Messenger of God starring self-styled spiritual guru Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has been cleared by the Censor Board.
The movie which had been expected to release earlier courted controversy after Leela Samson, the then chief of Central Board of Film Certification resigned. Accusing the government of meddling with the board’s functioning, nine other members had followed and quit in her footsteps, reported Hindustan Times.
She had cited "interference, coercion" as reasons for her resignation. The movie which was supposed to be released on January 16 but the release was postponed.
Screening of the movie had been suspended in Punjab with the reason given as ‘breach of peace and threat to social harmony’.
Ram Rahim Singh had earlier said that there was nothing objectionable about this movie.
The movie is expected to release on February 13.
