20 gold bars found inside clothes iron in Bangladesh

A man was caught while trying to smuggle 20 gold bars inside a clothes iron at Dhaka's Shahjalal International Airport Saturday.

The passenger, Hashim Molla, arrived from Kuala Lumpur, Customs Intelligence Assistant Commissioner Abu Yusuf told bdnews24.com.

Further details of the arrested person are yet to be disclosed.

Officials checked Molla after finding his movements suspicious at the airport’s green channel.

They broke open the iron in his luggage and found 20 gold bars, weighing upto two kg.

The haul is worth around 10 million taka ($129,300), said the customs official.
