Niamey: Niger's military said Friday that its troops killed 109 Boko Haram militants but lost four soldiers after a major attack by the militants was repelled near the border with neighbouring Nigeria, Xinhua news agency reported.

THe militants attempted to invade Bosso and Diff, two border towns in the southeastern region Friday.

A joint army of Niger and Chadian troops repulsed the militants' aggression, which began Friday, said a military source, adding that a civilian was also killed in the fighting.

There was no report of casualty on the Chadian army side.
