Youth arrested in Kerala for insulting national anthem, days after a similar arrest in Karnataka

The News Minute | August 21, 2014 | 12:30 am ISTThe Kerala police arrested a youth from Thiruvananthpuram on Wednesday for showing disrespect to the national flag and national anthemA complaint was registered against Salman by some movie goers, who apparently witnessed him and six other friends booing when the national anthem was being played out.The complainants who knew Salman also informed the police about a Facebook post of his insulting the Independence Day celebrations.Police have filed a case under Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act and Section 124 (A) of the IPC. The Thiruvananthapuram police is on the look out for Salman's friends now.This incident comes just days after a student was arrested in Karwar, Karnataka for similar charges. The Kumta police had arrested Jabeer Khan, a student for allegedly forwarding a message, that according to the complainant, mocked the National Anthem and India.
