You won't believe who's caught the acting bug: CPI (M) strongman VS to make his movie debut soon

If you thought denying him the chief ministerial position would have kept veteran CPI(M) leader VS Achuthanandan out of the limelight, he has once again proved it wrong.

The 93-year-old VS is now all set to make his acting debut in an upcoming Malayalam film titled ‘Campus Diary’.

Reports say that the makers of the film have managed to rope in VS to do a part in the film. However, VS may not need to act the part as he is essaying a role that comes naturally to him - that of a crusader of the downtrodden.

The movie, directed by CK Jeevan Das revolves around a group of students who reach a drought-hit village, where a gushing river once flowed. The students then kick-start a mass movement to restore the river for which, they receive VS’ solidarity and support.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, the producer of the film CK Sarasappan said, “The film revolves around burning ecological issues of the world. We all think about today not tomorrow. Since green issues are close to the heart of VS, we thought of roping him in.”

The shooting of the film will begin next week and VS is scheduled to reach Koothuparamba on July 9.
