A 25-year-old woman was arrested on Saturday for the murder of Vijayakumar PB, which took place at his residence in Samachar Apartments in east Delhi’s Mayur Vihar area on Wednesday.

The woman has reportedly claimed that the deceased had been blackmailing and exploiting her. She reportedly confessed to the police that it was out of rage and frustration that she committed the crime.

The victim was Rajya Sabha TV Journalist Ambily Vijaykumar’s father.

According to a report in The Times of India, the woman was a graduate from Delhi University and was looking for a government job.

According to the woman's claims, she was called home by Vijayakumar on Wednesday and blackmailed with a video, that he allegedly threatened to make public.

Raising suspicion on how her frequent visits to Vijayakumar’s house remained unnoticed, the police said that the woman's claims were yet to be verified.

“She claimed that he regularly called her to his residence when his family members were not around and exploited her.On the day of incident, too, he had called her to his residence and she killed him in a fit of rage," DCP (East) Rishipal told TOI.

As per her statement, after watching the video, she picked up a kitchen knife out of rage, and continuously stabbed the victim. The woman then changed her dress and carried the TV along with her on her way out and dumped it in a drain.
