The Malayalam film industry went all out and congratulated actor Suresh Gopi on his nomination to the Rajya Sabha.
Suresh Gopi became the first from the Malayalam film industry to be nominated to the Upper House of Parliament. As he took oath on Friday, the film fraternity in Kerala showered him with congratulations and also caution.
Actor Mohanlal took to Twitter to wish Suresh Gopi on the occasion.

Besides congratulating Suresh Gopi, actor Mammootty is reported to have cautioned him against making hefty promises. However, Suresh Gopi said that he has already received assent for the development plans he has for the state.
Among the other celebrities who wished him well, was actor and Lok Sabha member Innocent, who said that belonging to different political parties and different houses shouldn’t affect their relationship.
Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala struck a discordant note by describing Suresh Gopi as “a good man in bad company”, and called his Rajya Sabha nomination as a ploy to influence the voters in the upcoming assembly elections.
