The News Minute | January 4, 2014 | 11.35 am ISTThe look of awe and happiness was written clearly on their faces. For around a 100 odd tribe-folk belonging to 14 different hamlets of Kodenchery, visiting Kozhikode in Kerala exposed them to their first taste of city life on Friday. A day planned and arranged by the Janamaithri rural police, it became the first opportunity for these people, both young and elderly, to experience the feel of a city. This ‘one-day sightseeing programme’ gave them an opportunity to go on a whirlwind tour of the city with visits to the planetarium , the beach, the Beypore port, amongst other locations. Thoroughly enjoying themselves, they were all excited and astonished with the busy life common to people living in cities. One young boy, however, summed it up quite well when he said on a TV channel that he liked the city tour, but he liked the village where he came from even better.
