The News Minute| December 9, 2014| 9.17 pm ISTPinarayi Vijayan, State Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Kerala surprised many on Tuesday by condemning the “Kiss of Love” event which was last held in Kozhikode against moral policing in the state. Vijayan on Tuesday said that “Whatever a husband and wife do inside the privacy of their bedroom should not be made into a form of protest". He also added that such tactics will not gain mass support. However the leader emphasized that the fight against moral policing should not be subdued. Interestingly the leader had a strikingly different stand when the first “Kiss of Love” protest took place in Kochi more than a month ago.Vijayan had put up a Facebook post criticizing the government for their alleged double-standards in handling the protest. He said in his post “Ours is a country which gives one the freedom to protest, and that should not be tampered with . . . whether or not one likes that is an entirely personal matter”.Post by Pinarayi Vijayan.
