With the controversy around Prime Minister Modi’s comparison of Kerala and Somalia continuing to occupy social media attention, the BJP has been trying valiantly to defend Modi and turn attention back onto the ruling UDF.

Speaking to reporters in Kochi, Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers HN Ananth Kumar, for instance said that the Chief Minister and the ruling party were using such controversies to distract attention from the real issues faced by the state.

In an attempt to turn around the hashtag #PoMoneModi, that had been trending on Twitter, the Union Minister said, “Don’t change the subject Chandy. Po Mone Chandy,”.
