Watch actor Jayasurya tell fans to give up the lousy habit of ‘comparing’ ourselves with others

Written by : TNM Staff

What makes this video so endearingly watchable is actor Jayasurya admitting right at the start, that actors -including himself- don’t usually post such videos, unless it’s part of some movie promotional event which would personally benefit them.

In this no-frills video that he posted on his official Facebook page on Thursday, Jayasurya gets to the point straightaway –that is our lousy habit of comparing ourselves with others.

He says -and rightly so- that all of us are guilty of subconsciously inculcating in ourselves as well as our children, this idiotic need to be ahead in life at the expense of others. This itself –he says- will go a long way in improving the quality of our everyday life.

"This dirty behaviour starts when we are young. Our parents compare us with others, injecting a thought into us that we need to defeat someone else. This feeling then grows with us. What we need to compete and defeat is our own mistakes," he says.

The pertinent point -he reiterates- is not to ‘beat’ others at the game of life, but to overcome our own past mistakes to surge ahead to a better life. As he stresses, we seem to know all around us, except ourselves.
