Written by : TNM

The wife of Madhya Pradesh's Vyavsayik Pariksha Mandal or Vyapam scam whistle-blower was detained with nearly Rs.10 lakh here but was later released, a police official said on Sunday. Meghna, whistle-blower Prashant Pandey's wife, was detained on Saturday. Police Superintendent Indore, East Region, O.P. Tripathi told IANS that Meghna was held from an office near Nehru stadium here. She was carrying Rs.9,96,000.  "Since she could not satisfactorily explain the presence of the huge amount of cash, she was taken to a women's police station. During enquiry, she could not explain the source and changed her statement a number of times. Police then seized the money and released her," he added. The official said the income tax department has been informed about the money seized from her. Talking to IANS, Pandey said it was nothing but an attempt to harass them. "The money seized by police was withdrawn from a bank for purchasing a house." He said the government was harassing them because they had raised the Vyapam issue. With IANS
