Torture at the orphanage : 100 wounds found in the body of 8 year old

Kottayam Medical college hospital authorities on Wednesday confirmed that there were 100 wounds on the body of the eight-year-old boy, who was admitted to the hospital with serious head injuries.The boy had allegedly been tortured physically by the caretaker of the orphanage he was staying in.The victim, his mother and brothers were inmates of an orphanage called Balasadanam in Koratti near Thrissur.The boy was reportedly injured in March, when the warden hit him on his head with a plate for spilling rice on the floor while having meals. His mother and brothers left the orphanage on April 2 and since then the boy had been suffering from severe headaches.According to a Mathrubhumi report, Childline officials, who took the child's statement on Monday, said the boy was reportedly tortured by the caretaker. They have reportedly filed a report with the child welfare committee.
