Top Kerala Police officer gets show cause notice

Written by : TNM

Kerala's home department on Wednesday served a show cause notice to Additional Director General of Police Rishiraj Singh for protocol breach by him at a function attended by Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala. The notice, issued under the directive of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, asked Rishiraj Singh to explain why action should not be taken against him for the breach of protocol. Rishiraj Singh was accused of disrespecting Chennithala by not standing up when the minister arrived at the Police Academy in Thrissur on July 11 for the passing out parade of policewomen. The incident has become an issue of debate in the social media after pictures of Rishiraj Singh sitting in rapt attention unmindful of the presence of Chennithala went viral. Rishiraj Singh is known to be a no-nonsense officer and often finds himself in a tight spot as he goes by the rule book.
