Thomas Isaac: The one brave MLA in our midst

The News Minute| October 9, 2014| 10.30 pm ISTWhen Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited everyone in the country to participate in the Clean India or Swacch Bharat campaign, as usual many politicians lined up for a photo opportunity.Most swept away dried leaves or garbage on the roads... and proudly posted pictures on their social media accounts. Some reports suggested that the garbage was freshly dumped on the roads for the politicians to sweep them away for the camera.But CPI (M) MLA Thomas Isaac is one politician who went beyond his call of duty and surprised everyone around him. At a cleanliness campaign event in a government school in Alapuzha, Kerala, the MLA decided to pay a visit to the bathrooms in the school. Asianet reports that while everyone put a hand over their nose as the stench was unbearable, Thomas Isaac said he wanted to clean the bathroom. A bucket with water and a broom was immediately give, soon panchayat members and school authorities joined in. And it was happy cleaning time!
