Sree Narayana Guru is no God but a social reformist, says Kerala High Court

Written by : TNM Staff

The Kerala High Court said that Sree Narayana Guru cannot be considered as a God as he was a social reformist.

The court made the observation on Friday while hearing a land dispute case involving a gurumandiram in Ambalappuzha in Alappuzha district.

According to reports, the division bench of the High Court upheld an earlier verdict by a single bench.

The court noted that neither can Sree Narayana Guru be considered as a God, nor can gurumandirams be treated as temples. It also noted that worshiping the social reformist is not justified as he himself was against idol worship and that since he was a social reformist, his statue cannot be considered as idols.
