Maoist leader CP Jaleel, who was killed in a police firing at a resort in Vythiri of Kerala’s Wayanad, had sustained three bullet injuries that led to his death. As per the inquest report, Jaleel had two bullet injuries at the back of his head and one on his right shoulder, according to a Times of India report.

Jaleel was killed in a police encounter after a 4-member gang of Maoists attempted to break into a luxury resort in Wayanad. The report also said that a gun was seized from the spot where the incident took place.

The police have also released the CCTV visuals from the spot where the encounter took place. Visuals showed that the Maoist group, including the slain leader Jaleel, was carrying a gun, as per an Asianet News report. The gun seized from the area is capable of even killing an elephant, said the report.

According to reports, Jaleel's elder brother CP Rasheed said the inquest report proves that the police had a conspiracy to kill him. He also said that a case should be registered against the police for the murder.

Soon after the murder, Jaleel’s brothers, CP Jishad and CP Rasheed, had alleged that what happened was a fake encounter. The family of the slain Maoist leader had also confirmed earlier that Jaleel was an active member of the CPI(Maoist) and had not been in contact with the family for the last three years.

“From what the resort staff have revealed it is clear that the police and government are lying,” said Jaleel’s brother Rasheed to TOI.

According to reports, the police had said that Jaleel and another Maoist came to the resort and demanded money and food. As per an official of the resort, the Maoists had not created any problem for staff or guests and also denied rumours that they were kept hostage by the cadres.
