A BJP worker in Thrissur succumbed to his injuries on Friday, after he was allegedly attacked by CPI(M) cadres on Thursday allegedly.

The victim, identified as Pramod, was injured after he along with other BJP workers were following a victory march of the Left party following the announcement of Thursday's result.

In view of this, the BJP has called for a day-long hartal in Thrissur on Saturday.

According to police, a clash between the BJP and CPI (M) workers started when some of the BJP workers got into a fight with the CPI (M) crowd.

Pramod's death happened a day after a CPI (M) worker was killed in Kannur allegedly by RSS workers.

“Soon, an arrest will be made in the case,” Kondungallur circle inspector Prasad told The News Minute.

In addition to the violence in Kannur, CPI (M) and BJP workers clashed in various places on Thursday night during the Left party's election victory celebrations, leaving at least 30 people injured, following which prohibitory orders have been clamped in  Panur, Dharmadam, Thalassery, Kasaragod, Kanhangad, Manjeswaram and Pinarayi.
