The News Minute | January 7, 2015 | 1.20 pm ISTA Congress leader who was earlier declared as absconding by the Kozhikode police has been made the Malabar area Dewaswom Board chairman. Devaswom boards are autonomous socio-religious trusts with government or society/community nominated members as trustees to manage Hindu temples.Police had registered a case against Prejish, Congress block secretary of Mangavu, in relation to the suicide of Vibina from Bepoor, Kozhikode, on November 14.“Prejish promised to marry Vibina and they had started living together. Later when she came to know that she was being cheated, she got depressed and committed suicide” Vibina’s father Lohithakshan told Reporter TV.He has also alleged that the police was deliberately prolonging Prejish's arrest. However police argues that at the time of his promotion as Devaswom Board chairman he had already taken a bail from Sessions court.“In our enquiry it is proved that Prejish is responsible for the death of Vibina. Since we released arrest warrant he went hiding, and we released a look out notice. Later when he got the promotion he had bail from the session’s court” Abdul Rahman, Feroke SubInspector of the police, told the News Minute. Now police claims that Prejish again went into hiding and they were in search of him.“Since the Sessions court bail was cancelled we started searching him and have not been able to find him . We got the information that he has moved to Ernakulam to take bail from High Court” Abdul Rahman added.
