Pirated CDs of Mohanlal blockbuster Pulimurugan: Five arrested in Kerala

Five more persons were arrested on Thursday by the Kerala cyber-police for uploading a pirated copy of the recent Mohanlal blockbuster ‘Pulimurugan’ online. The arrest was based on a complaint filed by Tomichan Mulakupadam -the film’s producer.

“In a state-wide raid conducted by the cyber-police, five persons have been arrested. The arrests were based on secret information received by the Kerala Anti-Piracy Cell superintendent PB Rajeev,” reads a media statement by the state Anti-Piracy Cell.

As per the statement, those arrested are Fazil, Shafiq Tariq, Nousheer, Shafiq and Thajudeen who operate various internet cafes and mobile shops in Malappuram and Palakkad.

According to reports, pirated copies were found on three websites including that of Tamil Torrentz. Three days ago, two people were arrested from Kannur for uploading pirated copies of the movie.

According to the police press release, further investigation and raids would continue in the coming days too.
