Written by : TNM Staff

In the aftermath of the Kollam Temple fire, the destructive nature of the explosive fireworks used in the festival is still being reckoned with. According to reports, the explosions generated by the fireworks were strong enough to send concrete debris flying over a distance of even 500 metres. Houses and buildings in the vicinity of the building complex, such as that of Pankajakshi Amma, living 50 metres away from the temple have suffered extensive damage, as roofs, ceilings, walls and windows cracked, and in some cases, fell to pieces.
