In the age of memes and gifs, it was too much to expect that actor-turned-politician Suresh Gopi would go scot free after being nominated to the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.

A day after his nomination, social media is awash with jokes and memes, recalling the righteous cop that he often played in the movies.

One video that people have dug up from Gopi’s filmography is a scene from Shaji Kailas’ film ‘The Tiger’. He plays the role of ‘Chandrasekharan IPS’ with Siddhique playing the villain role as ‘John Varghese’, a Rajya Sabha MP.

Watch it here:

“There isn’t a single law in this country which is not for sale. Rajya Sabha MP, the designation bought using black money made by NRI frauds, drug lords and traffickers. This is my verdict for all you frauds who did not want to fight the verdict of the public”, he says, before going on to beat up the villain.

Apart from this video that went viral on social media, various other posts have also come up. International Chalu Union (ICU), a Malayalam troll group, posted a film screenshot edited to depict a fictional conversation between Narendra Modi and Suresh Gopi, in which the latter is asking for the difference between the MP positions earned by winning elections and the one received by nomination, to Narendra Modi.
