One person sustained injuries in a low-intensity blast on the premises of a Kollam court on Wednesday morning.

At around 10.30 am, a blast went off in an old jeep parked outside the district Labour Office, which is located in the premises of the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court in Kollam Collectorate. A Congress worker named Sabu who had reached the court sustained injuries in the explosion.

According to a Malayala Manorama report, the jeep is registered to the Labour Commissioner.

Reports say that steel residue was found in the court premises after the explosion.

The Bomb squad, canine squad and the fire department personnel rushed to the spot following the incident.

It is unclear whether the blast was accidental. Police are investigating whether the explosion is connected to the murder trial of policeman Maniyan Pallai, in which Aadu Antony is the main accused. The trial of the case filed in 2012 began on Tuesday
