Nepotism: Kerala Industries Min EP Jayarajan’s relative resigns from state PSU

Written by : TNM Staff

With Kerala Industries Minister EP Jayarajan’s fate hanging in the balance over allegations of nepotism in appointments, one of his relatives has resigned from her government post.

Deepthi Nishad, Jayarajan’s brother’s daughter-in-law, has resigned as the general manager of Clays and Ceramics Products Ltd. in Kannur.

The appointment of P.K. Sudhir Nambiar, Jayarajan’s nephew and P.K. Sreemathi’s son, as the MD of the Kerala State Industrial Enterprises had raised eyebrows earlier. Even though the appointment was subsequently struck down, Jayarajan might still be asked to quit as the party wants to send out a strong message, Manoramaonline reported.

Meanwhile, CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury said that there will be a ‘corrective measure’ by the party.

Onmanorama reports that senior national leaders have urged the state leadership to annul the controversial appointments and also punish the offenders to maintain the party’s credibility.

The CPM state secretariat is expected to take a decision on the matter on Friday.
