“Mihir was my nephew. He was my son’s best friend. He is no more,” wrote businessman Musthafa PC mourning the loss of his 15-year-old Mihir Ahammed, who died by suicide in Kerala’s Kochi on January 15. In an emotional note posted on Instagram on February 3, Musthafa, the CEO of iD Fresh Foods, detailed the brutal bullying and physical assault Mihir allegedly faced at school and on the school bus, calling for justice and systemic change to prevent such tragedies in the future.
Recounting his bond with the teen, Musthafa shared that Mihir had lived with his family in Bengaluru during his kindergarten years, adding that he was like a son to him.
He said that after Mihir’s tragic death, the family received disturbing screenshots and evidence of bullying and harassment from his friends. “The evidence we gathered paints a chilling picture. Mihir was beaten, verbally abused, and forced to endure unimaginable humiliation even on his last day. He was forcibly taken to the washroom, made to lick a toilet seat, and had his head pushed into the toilet while it was flushed. After this humiliating experience, they used to call him ‘poopyhead’,” he wrote.
Beyond the physical torment, Mihir was also allegedly targeted for his complexion. “I am begging for justice for Mihir. His death must not go in vain. Those responsible for this barbaric act must face the full force of the law,” Musthafa urged, adding that he has full faith in the legal system and hopes for accountability.
The alleged bullying and harassment came to light after Mihir’s mother, Rajna PM, issued a statement on January 30, alleging brutal ragging by his schoolmates. She also accused Global Public School in Ernakulam, where Mihir studied, of attempting to intimidate students into silence to protect its reputation.
Rajna said that a social media page titled ‘Justice for Mihir,’ created by Mihir’s friends to raise awareness about the case, was deleted under suspicious circumstances. She also shared screenshots of her son’s schoolmates discussing his death.
There were also allegations against Mihir’s previous school, GEMS Modern Academy in Kochi, where he was suspended and allegedly subjected to mental harassment by Vice Principal Binu Azeez. It was this incident that led to his transfer to Global Public School in November 2024. GEMS authorities said on Sunday, February 2, that Binu has been suspended pending investigation.
