A group of unidentified persons attacked the house of a Kerala youth, arrested for alleged links with Islamic State operatives, in Kannur district.

Manseed’s house at Peringathur in Kannur was pelted with stones in the wee hours on Monday.

According to officials at Chokli police station in the district, a group of unidentified persons attacked the house at around 1 am. A case has been registered against the miscreants and the investigation is on, said police.

Manseed was one of the six people arrested by NIA in October this year for alleged links with IS.

Manseed’s sister Mahroonisa told The New Indian Express that family members including her grandmother and children were in the house when they were awakened by a loud noise.

“When we came out, there were around 10 people and they vanished into the dark. By the time we came out, they had broken all the glasses and window panes with some sharp weapons,” she was quoted as saying.

Though glass pieces fell on her grandmother who was sleeping in one of the bedrooms, there were no injuries, Mahroonisa said.

According to the family, protest demonstrations were held on the day Manseed was arrested.
