Minor Bangladeshi sex racket victim confined in Kerala jail illegally

The News Minute | November 30, 2014 | 7.40 pm ISTA minor Bangladeshi girl, a sex racket victim, was reportedly illegally held in Kozhikode district jail for 6 months.Police neither took any action to send her back to Bangladesh nor submitted the case charge sheet, as per an Asianet News report. The 16 year old girl who was rejected by a sex racket group was arrested and held in jail, though she was then a minor and shoild have been kept in a home for juveniles.The report says the girl, hails from Suthrapur, Bangladesh, had been missing from her home country since last May. She was trapped by a sex racket and was taken to Calcutta, Bangalore and finally reached Kunnamangalam, Kozhikode.Later the racketeers abandoned her since the police was behind them. While she was on her way back to Bangalore, police arrested the girl from Thamarassery, Wayanad. She was jailed for breaking immigration rules and police had claimed in the court that she was over the age of 18.However jail superintend had collected her birth certificate through the embassy and then realized that she was just 16 when got arrested. According to the law a minor who breaks the immigration rules should be sent back immediately to the home country but, here police did not take any measures to send her back.Though Thamarassery court had ordered to shift her to a juvenile home, no steps were taken by the police.The girl was reportedly brutally raped and is pregnant now.
