The selfie fever turned tragic for a 37-year-old man, who tried to take a selfie with an elephant at a temple festival in Kerala on Thursday.

The elephant was reportedly taking rest after a tiring day at Kilimanoor in Thriruvananthapuram, when the man approached the elephant with bananas in the wee hour of Wednesday, to lure it into posing for a selfie.

Displeased with the man’s efforts, the jumbo dealt a blow with his trunk and as the man fell down, gored him with his tusk, causing serious injuries.

Though the man was rescued by the mahouts, who woke up from their sleep after hearing his cries, he has been admitted to the medical college in Trivandrum with injuries on his thighs.
