Malayalam film director Mohanroop passes away

Malayalam film director Mohanroop was found dead at his residence in Thrissur Mission quarters on Tuesday. He was 53 years old.

Mohanroop’s 1984 movie "Vetta," starring Mohanlal, Mammootty and Sreenivasan brought him into the limelight. He was just 21 when he did the movie. Later he did over 100 projects, including feature films and documentaries.

Other notable works of Mohanroop are "Sparsam" (1999), "Excuse Me Ethu Collegila (1996), "Ivare Sookshikkuka" (1987), "Varshangal Poyathariyathe" (1987) and "Nulli Novikkathe" (1985).

Mohanroop, born in Varkala, was staying in Thrissur. He is survived by his wife Preetha and two children Mrunal, Nila.
