As the country celebrates its 68th Republic Day on Thursday, South Indian superstar Honorary Lieutenant Colonel Mohanlal released the first look poster of his upcoming war movie in Malayalam.

Directed by Major Ravi, Lal’s next is titled 1971: Beyond Borders, and as the title suggests, the plot revolves around the 1971 Indo-Pak War.

Sharing the poster on his official Facebook page with his countless fans, Mohanlal wrote: “The Battle of emotions begins here.”

Reportedly a prequel of the 2006 blockbuster Keerthi Chakra -also directed by Major Ravi- the movie has Mohanlal back in the role of an army man in service of his motherland.

The poster shows Mohanlal dressed in army fatigues and rising up from the ground with gun in hand, while a couple of other soldiers lie low, even as an explosion goes off behind them.

Produced by Haneef Mohammad under the Red Rose Creations banner, Mohanlal is rumoured to play a double role, appearing both as Major Mahadevan and his father Colonel Sahadevan in the movie.

Going by reports, the movie is expected to hit the theatres in March this year.
