Allegations of corruption, infighting within the party and myriad controversies has marred the UDF's regime in Kerala this time. But Chief Minister Oommen Chandy seems confident of creating history and ensuring a repeat victory for the UDF.

Before starting on the campaign trail, the CM spoke to The News Minute on various issues including the BJP's aggressive campaign in Kerala.

"We have won all elections at all levels in the last five years and this shows that people are confident of the UDF's rule," he said. The CM however went on to defend his stance of allowing candidates with corruption charges contest elections. "Allegations and reality are two different things. I will not take action against anyone who is simply being targeted," he said.

In the interview, he also defended UDF's policies that had been labelled as mere appeasement by the opposition. He spoke at length on what the UDF had in plan for creating employment in the state.
