Written by : TNM

The News Minute | July 1, 2014 | 2:23 PM IST Reports suggest that on the wake of the new cabinet reshuffle, the current speaker G. Karthikeyan might resign soon after the Assembly session ends on July 17. The buzz is that the Chief minister Oommen Chandy wants to induct him into the new cabinet. Chandy earlier wanted Karthikeyan to be the state party chief when Ramesh Chennithala left the post to join the cabinet. But since the Congress in the Centre preferred VM Sudheeran more, Karthikeyan lost out on his chance. Oommen Chandy planned the cabinet reshuffle, immediately after the polls. But due to the defeat that Congress faced in the national level, the reshuffle has been stalled till now.
