As a result of the volatile law and order situation in Tamil Nadu following the death of DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi, the Kerala State Road Transportation Corporation (KSRTC) has suspended all interstate bus services between the two states. 

According to a report by the Times of India (ToI), the Deputy manager (operations) of the KSRTC is reported to have said that the bus services are cancelled due to security reasons. 

The KSRTC which operates more than hundred services to places like Theni, Coimbatore, Nagercoil and Thenkasi said that it will resume their services after reviewing the law and order situation in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday. 

The decision to cancel the bus services was taken following the orders of the general manager of the Tamil Nadu State Road Transport Corporation (TNSRTC).

Police have also stepped up security along the border between the two states. 

The Idukki police have been asked to redirect all the vehicles coming from Kerala. 

Kumily CI VK Jayaprakash told ToI, “We request vehicle owners in Kerala to avoid travelling to Tamil Nadu for the next two days.”

DMK supremo M Karunanidhi breathed his last at Kauvery Hospital in Chennai on Tuesday evening at 6.10 pm.

Following this, several leaders came to offer condolences to the 5-time chief minister of Tamil Nadu.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan too issued a statement condoling his death.

"He imparted great strength to the Dravidian movement, thereby helping in bringing social changes. His exemplary oratory skills and good governance made it easier for him to make a mark in the lives of ordinary people of the state. For this very reason, Karunanidhi became an emotion for the people of Tamil Nadu," Pinarayi wrote in Malayalam.

As far as Kerala is concerned, the CM pointed out that Karunanidhi has always been a brother for the state.
