A worker of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Kerala’s Kollam district succumbed to his injuries after being stabbed on Tuesday.

33-year-old Sujith, also called Lalikuttan, a resident of Kuzhivelimukku, was stabbed on Tuesday night in a brawl between members of two neighbouring houses in Kulasekharapuram at Karunagapally in Kollam. Though Sujith was rushed to hospital, he succumbed later on Tuesday night itself.

According to officials of Karunagapally police, Sujith was the friend of one of the families which were involved in the brawl. “On Tuesday morning, these two neighbouring families in Kulasekharapuram had a fight over some issue. Sujith was a close friend of one of the families. On Tuesday night, Sujith along with his friend of that one family went to the other neighbouring house with which they had an issue in the morning and again entered into a scuffle. Sujith got stabbed in this ruckus,” an official told TNM.

A case has been registered against Ali Ashkar and Shehin Sha, and residents of Kulasekharapuram, in the murder of Sujith.  The accused have been booked under Sections 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint), 302 (Punishment for murder), 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention)  and 294 (b) (sings, recites or utters any obscene song, ballad or words, in or near any public place) of Indian Penal Code.

Both the accused are brothers and have been absconding after the incident.

According to police, it is being propagated in social media that the accused are members of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI). “But we have not found any connections of the accused with the SDPI. Following these social media allegations, SDPI has filed a complaint stating that the BJP is trying to falsely accuse SDPI in the issue,” said the police official.
