Kerala revenue minister slams Intelligence chief for failing to recognize him at meeting

Kerala state Revenue Minister E Chandrashekharan has come down hard on state intelligence chief BS Mohammed Yasin, after the officer mistook him for Agriculture Minister Sunil Kumar.

On Wednesday morning, when Mohammed Yasin arrived to meet E Chandrashekharan at his residence, the officer asked the minister whether he was Sunil Kumar.

“I told him I am not the agriculture minister and it was bad that a senior police officer could not even recognise state ministers, that too the intelligence department chief,” Chandrashekharan told media.

Mohammed Yasin had taken permission on Tuesday evening to meet the minister. Chandrashekharan said that though there was no particular need to meet the intelligence head, he gave an appointment as the officer had asked for it.

As per the reports, Yasin wanted to meet Agriculture Minister Sunil Kumar to speak about getting space for setting up an Intelligence office in Thrissur.

The building allotted for the Intelligence department by the District Collector, comes under the Water Resources department. The Water Resources minister was not happy about this and Yasin wanted to meet Sunil Kumar to sort out the issue.

Yasin, whose hometown is in Andhra Pradesh, was Thrissur IG earlier. Questions are being raised as to how a senior officer like him could make such an embarrassing mistake.

However, Yasin claimed it was his driver who took him to the wrong house and asserted that he knows all the ministers personally.
