Kerala Reshuffle: TP Senkumar removed as police chief, Jacob Thomas to head Vigilance

Positions of top police officials in Kerala have been reconstituted after the new government took charge.

State police chief TP Senkumar has been removed from his position and has been given a less important post of Police Housing and Construction Corporation MD.

Chief Minsiter Pinarayi Vijayan and veteran communist leader VS Achuthanandan had earlier come down heavily on Senkumar over his policies in the past.

VS had said that when law and order in the state is completely out of control, Senkumar was ‘playing on Facebook just like kids’.

Present Fire and rescue services DGP Loknath Behra has been appointed as state police chief (DGP).

DGP Jacob Thomas, who was in the limelight for criticising the UDF government and former CM Oommen Chandy was once again appointed as Vigilance DGP. Thomas was removed from the post by the previous government for allegedly taking action in the bar bribery scam. Thomas was also engaged in a Facebook war with Senkumar.

Shanker Reddy who was criticised for his controversial decisions in the bar scam enquiry was removed from the post of Vigilance DGP. He has not yet been given another post.

As per reports, the CM has signed the new appointment orders.
