Kerala Opposition demands Minister Babu’s resignation over the bar-bribery case

Written by : TNM Staff

The 11 day- brief Kerala Assembly session began on Nov 30 with its usual clamorous scenes with the Opposition asking the Speaker Shri N Sakthan to adjourn the Question Hour to discuss the allegation of corruption charges against Shri K Babu, Minister for Fisheries, Port and Excise by hotelier Dr. Biju Ramesh in the bar bribery case.

With the Speaker’s refusal to do so, citing that the Question Hour had never been adjourned in the history of the Legislative Assembly and the Opposition not willing to wait for the Zero Hour to discuss the same as suggested by the Speaker, chaos reigned supreme.

Earlier in the month, Dr. Biju Ramesh had alleged that the Excise Minister was paid a sum of Rs.10 crores for the renewal of licenses of liquor bars in the state.
