Days after police officials arrested three persons of the Kochi robbery gang from Delhi, officials brought them to the city to collect evidence of the crime on Sunday. The three accused, Arshad, Shamsad and Rony, were brought to Ernakulam’s Tripunithara Circle Office on Sunday morning by train from New Delhi. The trio were later taken by the officials to Nannilath House at Eroor, where the gang were allegedly involved in mass robbery and looted 50 sovereigns of gold, Rs 20,000 in cash, mobile phones and other valuables.

Meanwhile police officials explained that they were able to identify the accused from the footage of a CCTV camera installed at a footwear shop.

Tripunithura circle inspector P S Shiju said, “We identified the accused from the footage of a CCTV installed at a footwear shop near Muthoot Finance office in Eroor. The camera caught them breaking the CCTV installed near the finance office. But they did not destroy the cameras as it was not facing them. We suspect that due to strong wind, the camera might have turned and captured their actions,” reports TOI. The police were also able to track the auto and bus used by the accused to reach their destination.

Officials also confirmed that the alleged kingpin of the gang, Noor Khan aka Naseer Khan, inspected the areas as a rag picker and therefore knew the blueprint of the areas very well.

“They targeted the houses after much planning and the arrested led us to the trails. In the next few days, we hope to track down the other accused in the case,” police said, reports TNIE. After the robbery, Noor and his aides escaped to Bangladesh and the rest of the gang went to Delhi.
