Kerala emigrant dies in road accident soon after returning to the country

A man who had just landed in Kozhikode from the Gulf region was killed along with his mother-in-law when the vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road in Kannur district in the wee hours of Saturday. Six others were injured in the accident.
According to the police, the driver of the car dozed off at the wheel, leading to the accident near Keecheri at around 3 am.
The victims have been identified as Babu and his mother-in-law Lakshmi, both of whom died on the way to the hospital. Babu's 22-year old daughter has been admitted to a hospital in Kannur with serious injuries.
Five others, including the driver, suffered minor injuries and are receiving treatment, police said.
Babu had arrived at the airport in Kozhikode on Friday night, and was received by his family members. All of them were heading to their hometown of Trikarpur in Kasargod district when the accident occurred.
