Kerala EC releases final voter turn-out figures: At 77.35%, it's the highest ever

The final voter turnout per cent for Kerala Assembly Elections 2016 stands at 77.35%. The Election Commission had earlier ascertained the figure at 71.7% till 6pm on Monday. With the revised figures, it is now clear that Kerala has recorded it's highest voter-turn out ever for an assembly election. 

Though heavy rains at some parts of Kerala kept voters at bay in the first half of the day, voters arrived at polling booths in large numbers during the second half. Kozhikode recorded the highest turn out with 81.89% and the lowest turn out of 71.66% was recorded in Pathanamthitta.

Compared to the earlier assembly election, Kerala recorded an increase of 2.23%. The total turnout per cent in 2011 Assembly elections was 75.12%.
