The Kerala health department has ordered a probe into allegations that there were flaws in the autopsy report of Jishnu Pranoy, who killed himself over alleged harassment by Thrissur Pambadi Nehru college authorities.

The probe was ordered based on the complaint filed by Jishnu’s family. The probe team has taken statements from the doctor who did the autopsy.

Earlier a few leaked police photographs revealed more injuries on his body.

The photographs which were taken by the police to prepare an inquest report, showed that Jishnu had wounds, red rashes on his hands, legs and stomach.

However, the autopsy report had only mentioned about the wounds to the nose. The Thrissur medical college authorities had reportedly informed police that the red rashes might have appeared when forensic officials examined Jishnu’s body.

Jishnu’s family had given a complaint to the police that his autopsy was conducted by a medical student when there were senior doctors available at Thrissur Medical college.

Relatives also allege that Jishnu was brutally assaulted by college authorities before his death.

Jishnu killed himself in the college hostel in Thrissur on January 6, after college authorities called him to the Vice Principal’s office alleging that he had cheated in the exams. However, later it was proved that Jishnu had not cheated in the exams and that the college had not reported the incident to the university exam controller.

Jishnu’s family has accused the college management of "murdering their son".
