Jishnu’s mother accuses Kerala police of arrest drama, as cops question Nehru Group chairman

The Kerala police arrested the Chairman of the Nehru Group of Institutions, P Krishnadas, on Tuesday. Krishnadas is the first accused in the death of Jishnu Pranoy, a student of Nehru College who was found dead after allegations by college authorities that he cheated in an exam.

But since Krishnadas has anticipatory bail from the Kerala High Court, he will be let off after questioning.

While Krishnadas has reportedly been questioned at Iringalakuda DySP office. Police have charged with with abetment of suicide, assault and conspiracy.

Jishnu’s mother Mahija though has called this a drama. Jishnu’s family is planning to protest outside DGP’s office in Thiruvananthapuram from April 5. Mahija said that by arresting Krishnadas, the police is trying to stop the family from protesting.

She also said that the family will not withdraw from the strike until the police arrest two of the accused - Vice-principal Sakthivel and assistant professor C P Praveen - who have not yet got anticipatory bail.

Public relations officer Sajith and exam cell members Vipin and Vimal are the other accused in the case.
