The principal district Sessions court Thrissur dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of two accused in the case relating to the death of Jishnu Pranoy. 

The court on Friday dismissed the bail pleas filed by the college vice-principal M K Sakthivel and the faculty member C P Praveen, who was the invigilator in the examination hall. In their explanation to the police, the college authorities had said that the invigilator had caught Jishnu while he was copying in the exam. The district government pleader and public prosecutor K D Babu argued that that the accused had fabricated a copying case against Jishnu, reports The Times of India. The public prosecutor also argued that the college management had a grudge against Jishnu for he tried to expose the illegal activities of the management.

The prosecutor said that the college management had forcibly obtained a statement from Jishnu admitting that he had copied in the exam. The accused also physically and mentally tortured Jishnu.  The investigation team, which had earlier visited the college and the examination hall, ruled out the possibility of copying.

The High Court on March 2 granted anticipatory bail to chairman of the college P Krishnadas, chairman of the Nehru College of Education and Charitable Trust. He is the first accused in the case. Jishnu Pranoy, an engineering student of Nehru College of Engineering and Research Centre (NCERC), Pambady, allegedly committed suicide in January. 

Meanwhile, the state government has initiated action to approach the Supreme Court to cancel the bail of Krishnadas. The parents of Jishnu - Mahija and Asokan - met the chief minister a week ago with five demands, to uncover the mystery of his death.
