Kerala Government on Wednesday announced a solatium of Rs 10 lakh to the family of the 30-year-old Dalit woman who was brutally raped and murdered at her house in Perumbavoor recently.

A government job will also be provided to the sister of the victim, an official press release said.

With many persons coming forward to extend financial help to the family to build a house, the Ernakulam District Collector has been asked to coordinate and provide all assistance to the family in this regard.

The government will also approach the Election Commission seeking permission to provide assistance to the family of the victim.

The woman, a law student who hailed from a poor family, was subjected to rape and brutal assault using sharp edged weapons before being murdered at her house in Perumbavoor on April 28, police said.
