Jisha rape and murder: UIDAI refuses to give biometric data to investigators

Written by : TNM Staff

The special investigation team (SIT) probing the rape and murder of Jisha, who are collecting fingerprints of the men from the locality to find the perpetrator, received a setback as the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) refused to give biometric data.

UIDAI made it clear that the details cannot be shared with any investigating agency as per a Supreme Court order.

As per Times of India report the SIT had approached UIDAI's regional office in Bengaluru for help with fingerprint analysis in cracking the case. Over the last two days the police has been collecting finger prints as two sets of fingerprints collected from the crime scene did not match that of the suspects in custody.

On Monday, the judicial first class magistrate court at Kuruppampady had approved SIT’s plea to get permission for seeking help of the UIDAI.

Though police had prepared a couple of sketches of suspected perpetrator, the victim’s mother or sister could not identify them.
