Jisha rape and murder: No headway yet, victim's sister Deepa asked to identify seized objects

Written by : TNM Staff

There are still no definite leads in the Perumbavoor rape and murder case but in a new twist on Monday morning, Jisha’s sister Deepa was called to the police station for identifying objects seized from Jisha’s house.

DySP Jijimon told The News Minute that Deepa was in the station for an hour in the morning. “She was called for evidence collection and to identify the objects. Nothing else can be said now,” he said.

Earlier there were reports that a friend of Deepa’s, who is a migrant labourer was connected to the murder case.

But Deepa had denied all such speculations to the media. Meanwhile, the State Women’s Commission, which took note of the case suo moto said they obtained useful information from Deepa.

On Sunday, Ernakulam rural SP Yatish Chandra and his team visited Jisha’s house and collected evidence. Meanwhile, police created a new sketch of the suspect as the sketch prepared earlier did not help them in any way.

Since none of the investigation officers have been willing to speak to the media, further details about the probe are unknown. DySP Jijimon has said that more information would harm the investigation.

“We cannot reveal everything. Investigation is on the right track,” he said.
